Summary:
This article troubleshoots an issue that occurs when the format of a cell does not match the format it is saved as.
Symptoms:
When a user runs a report in Excel, the function works correctly and returns the desired information. But in Portal, the same function does not return the desired information.
Please see below for examples:
Number only with cell formatted as Text (note there is no green triangle in the corner of the cell):
Number with cell formatted as Text and Stored as Text (note the green triangle and the exclamation point when clicked upon):
Causes:
One of the numbers referenced in the function is formatted as Text, but not a Number Stored as Text while the other number is both formatted as Text and also a Number Stored as Text.
Portal does not recognize these numbers as the same.
Resolution:
Make sure both numbers are both Numbers Stored as Text and the cell is formatted as Text (the easiest way to accomplish this is by copying and pasting the correctly built number cell into the incorrect cell).
