- Use multiple tenants, each tenant configured with the appropriate fiscal configuration
- Use a single tenant and "move" the transactions of one company to the fiscal calendar of the other during the data load process.
Of the two above options #1 is most common. This is the preferred method because typically in a multiple fiscal configuration, end users are used to the period references of that company.
- Company A: Period 202001 represents calendar year Sept 1, 2020 - Sept 30, 2020
- Company B: Period 202001 represents calendar month Jan 1, 2021 - Jan 31, 2021
By purchasing the two tenants, you can be assured that the period being referenced in a report returns transactions that fall in the expected calendar dates. Option #2 works as well but would move the transactions to Jan 1, 2021, which may confuse users, reporting off Company A.
