Summary:
This article details how to create a single sheet report with a Tree structure. Data Warehouse Trees are useful as parameters and in creating sheet per value reports, but it takes some additional set up to create a single sheet report with a Tree structure.
Method:
To build a report to match the structure of your Data Warehouse Tree, follow these steps:
- Bring the Parent attribute into your report and create an outer grouping that groups by Parent with nothing in the the Filters tab.
- On the line below, bring in both the Order and Child attributes and create an inner grouping that groups by Order and Child with nothing in the Filters tab.
- In the Sheet Filter, bring in Tree Structure (found in More Fields of the dimension with the Tree) and create a parameter for this.
- Upon running the report, the parent attributes will show in the child attribute section as well. Another option is to create a filter on the inner grouping to filter these out.
Attached is a sample report built using the BI360 Corporate Demo Model database.
