More Information:
Welcome to the Solver Pricing and Licensing Guide for Solver Corporate Performance Management (CPM) Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) for mid-sized organizations.
Licensing
Solver’s licensing is designed to give customers all the capabilities of its CPM product with the purchase of a user license, limited capabilities with Viewer license, and options for additional tenants, cloud data, and import/export transactions.
User license:
A Solver User license may have administrator access, create/change reports/input forms, enter data (e.g., budget data), view published reports, and create/change integrations. A User license inherits all the capabilities of a Viewer license. Users are given security Permissions to access different capabilities, such as whether they can design new reports.
Access to the following services and capabilities come with the purchase of a Solver User license:
Notes:
- One free Ascend Pass per new Solver customer. Not per User.
- The first tenant is automatically included. Additional Tenants may be purchased.
- Each Tenant comes with 30GB. Additional 30GB increments may be purchased.
- Dashboards: Dashboards may be created in Excel with Solver report design tool, in Power BI, or Tableau.
- Academy for every User license. Does not apply to Viewers.
Additional required software not supplied by Solver: 1) Microsoft Excel Desktop required for report and input form (e.g., budgets) design; 2) Power BI and/or Tableau licenses to use Solver Power BI and/or Tableau Connectors for advanced dashboards; and 3) Any APIs required to get data from sources where Solver does not have a Connector.
Viewer license:
A Solver Viewer license only allows customers to view previously published reports delivered by a Solver User. Published reports may be delivered through Solver Publisher. Any reports published to Solver Portal or sent as an email attachment require recipients to have a Viewer license at a minimum.
Additional Tenant
All customers get one Tenant with 30GB cloud data. Additional Tenants allow you to have additional security, databases, and data models for different purposes. Examples include testing, different business models/entities, data history archiving, etc.
Additional 30GB
An additional 30GB cloud data may be necessary for one or more of your Solver Tenants. Over 95% of Solver customers use less than 30GB per Tenant today. Customers approaching their limit will be notified when their tenant is within 20% of their cloud data limit. Customers will have the option to subscribe to an additional 30GB per Tenant.
API Transactions
Currently Solver does not have any integrations that charge for Application Programming Interface (API) transactions. There are plans to charge for API transactions for Sage Intacct customers starting January 2024. This is due to Sage charging Solver for API transactions consumed by a Solver customer. As soon as Solver has more information on the estimated amount and billing frequency for these charges, Solver Sage Intacct customers will be informed.
There will likely be other API transaction types in the future that require a fee. Solver will evaluate the costs and method to bill for such fees as they become known.
Existing Solver Cloud Customers
License Migration 26 August 2023
On 26 August 2023, all existing Solver Cloud customers will automatically receive all the functionality referenced in Licensing above for no additional subscription fee. Not including Additional Tenants, Additional 30GB, or API Transactions not already licensed.
Licensing from old to new is as follows:
Solver Publisher Subscribers prior to 1 August 2023
Please notify your Solver sales representative of the number of Viewer licenses you need to enable Publisher recipients to continue to receive reports prior to Solver December cloud release (likely 23 December 2023). These identified number of Viewer licenses will be provided free of charge indefinitely to subscribers of Publisher as of 1 August 2023.
The new requirement is all Publisher recipients must have a User or Viewer license. This new requirement will be enforced in the Solver product as of 1 January 2024. Recipients without a User or Viewer license will not receive their reports.
Special Temporary Add-on Pricing for Existing Solver Cloud Customers
Customers who purchased Solver prior to 1 August 2023, may use the following special pricing for add-on orders until 31 December 2024. For the licensed items in the table below, customers will get all the functionality as represented above in Licensing.
Notes:
- Annual subscription or multi-year
- United States America (USA) USD pricing
- 30GB with Tenant purchase
- Customer notification when within 20% of their cloud data limit.
- Application Programming Interface (API) Transactions billing will vary. For more information see “Licensing > Licensing Items > API Transactions” above.
After 31 December 2024, the estimated pricing will be as follows for add-ons:
Notes:
- Annual subscription or multi-year
- United States America (USA) USD pricing
- 30GB with Tenant purchase
- Customer notification when within 20% of their cloud data limit.
- Application Programming Interface (API) Transactions billing will vary. For more information see “Licensing > Licensing Items > API Transactions” above.
Annual Price Increases
Typically, Solver has annual price increases that address rising costs due to inflation. Solver Cloud customers current as of 31 July 2023 will see an increase of 3.6% in their annual renewal starting in January 2024. Any add-on subscriptions from 1 August 2023 through 31 December 2024 will not have any price increases for renewals beginning term start date in 2024.
Solver reserves the right to change pricing for any reason at any time (e.g., Unknown API charges from a source system charges Solver for accessing their data. Hyperinflation. Azure hosting costs rise unexpectedly).
Renewals
Renewal subscription pricing is not changing for any customers who purchased Solver prior to 1 August 2023. When renewal billing is generated in September - October 2023 for renewal dates starting January 2024, the annual billing amount will be the same as it was the prior year.
For example, if a customer’s annual renewal in January 2023 was $20,000, they did not have any add-ons during 2023, and the annual inflation increase is 5% for 2024 renewals, the customer’s 1 January 2024, renewal would be $21,000.
If a customer had add-ons of $100 per month from 1 January 2023 to 31 July 2023, the January 2024 annual renewal would be $22,200.
Any add-ons done with any customer after 31 July 2023 through 31 December 2024, will not have the 2024 annual price increase applied to renewal terms starting in 2024.
In other words, renewals for existing customers get an annual increase for anything subscribed to prior to 1 August 2023. Any add-ons licensed after 1 August 2023 through the end of 2024 will not have any annual increase.
Removing modules. This capability no longer exists for any renewals with a term beginning 8/16/2023 and thereafter.
Removing Academy users. This capability no longer exists for any renewals with a term beginning 8/16/2023 and thereafter.
Removing users. Customers may remove any user types at renewal time at the renewal price for their subscription. If any “Designer User” or “Live User” licenses are removed, additional User license subscriptions after 26 August 2023 will be at full price and special temporary add-on pricing above does not apply.
New pricing (August 2023) does not apply to subscription renewals for customers who purchased Solver prior to 1 August 2023. If a customer wants the new pricing the following will need to be done:
- Purchase new Solver subscription at new pricing.
- Do not renew existing Solver subscription.
- If terminating before end of subscription period, no refund or credit provided for early termination.
- Secure statement of work for billable services to reimplement in new Solver tenant:
- Migration of Data Warehouse Data
- Integrations
- Reports
- Input forms
- Ad-hoc Views
- Categories
- Process Manager lists
- Workflows & Assignments
- Publisher Jobs
- User setup
- Security Permissions

Solver administration screens will reflect the new user type naming of “User” and “Viewer” in future Solver product release. For more information, see August 2023 release notes.
